Cool Weather Dehydration Tips

How much water will you drink today? Here’s another question: Do you experience any of the following symptoms:
  • Muscle cramps
  • Dizziness
  • Headaches
  • Impaired memory
  • Trouble Concentrating
  • Constipation
Even though it’s cool outside, don’t be fooled: You just might be showing signs of dehydration.
Billions of dollars are spent every year on medicines designed to cure these ailments, when in reality drinking enough water (8 glasses a day) may be all that person needed.
Water is essential because of its many benefits:
  • Helps control calories
  • Energize muscles
  • Flushes out the kidneys
  • Helps fight fatigue
  • Helps convert food to energy
  • Regulates body temperature
  • Cushions the joints & vital organs
  • Helps the body absorb nutrients


A person can go days without eating food, but only last several hours in extreme weather conditions without water, so it’s essential we drink it throughout the day. Keep in mind, water is about 75% of our body weight, so it’s VERY important that we drink it daily.

With all that said, there are quite a few of us who won’t drink enough water for a variety of reasons, ranging from we simply don’t have access to bottled water, we prefer to drink soda, or we simply forget to drink water.
While these are realistic reasons, there are some delicious and healthy foods a person can eat that have a high water content. Try eating some of these today:
  • Cucumbers
  • Pineapples
  • Tomatoes
  • Pears
  • Blueberries
  • Grapefruit
  • Celery
  • Melon
  • Grapes
  • Apples
Each of these foods have a high water content, are low in calories, and can help you meet your daily water requirement. Not to mention they are loaded with many of the vitamins and nutrients our bodies need.
