This past Sunday I completed a 5-1/2 day fast. It wasn’t easy, but I did it, and I’m so glad I did!
I broke my fast with some cream of chicken soup. I really wanted pizza, but knew realistically I needed to eat something that wouldn’t hurt my stomach.
After I ate, i got REALLY sleepy, so i slept for about two hours. As i type this, I’m near back to normal energy levels. I’m still eating soup, and feel good overall.
Fasting didn’t just help me physically, it really helped me clear my mind mentally, and allowed me to think and reflect. And YES: it really did help me clear my mind.
Think about it: Many of the foods we eat have artificial colors, flavors and preservatives. That stuff might be affecting us on a mental level. If a person is physically able, they should seriously consider going on a fast. It’s a great way to recharge your mind, body and spirit!
Here are my final thoughts on this fast.
This past Tuesday, I went and gave blood for the first time this year. To my pleasant surprise, I’m not at the 4gallon donor mark.
All in all, I’m feeling great. Fasting is difficult, but I would never stop doing it. I honestly feel fasting is the best thing we can do with our health. if you haven’t fasted before, give it a try. Your body will thank you!
If you have any questions about fasting, don’t hesitate to contact me. I’d be more than happy to give any advice or words of encouragement.
in addition, I have a couple books on healthy eating and improving our overall health: the Diet of Success: Healthy Eating Tips For hard Working Professionals, and The Three Pillars of Strength: Increasing Your Physical, Mental, and Spiritual Fitness. Both available on Amazon in paperback, kindle and audiobook format.
