Sunscreen Dangers: More Potential Carcinogens Found in Commercial Sunscreens?

What’s in your sunscreen? Two years ago, I wrote an article on the dangers of commercial sunscreens and how to create your own natural sunscreens with essential oils.

Why am i talking about this article in 2021?

Because on August 10, 2021, an article came out where researchers discussed removing more sunscreens from the market after another potential carcinogen found.

It’s important to note that in many instances, a product may be approved by the FDA, but the damages from said product may not become evident until years later:

What is the FDA?

FDA stands for the Food and Drug Administration. The mission of the FDA is as follows:

The Food and Drug Administration is responsible for protecting the public health by ensuring the safety, efficacy, and security of human and veterinary drugs, biological products, and medical devices; and by ensuring the safety of our nation’s food supply, cosmetics, and products that emit radiation.

The FDA can be traced back to 1848, but got its official start with the 1906 Pure Food and Drug Act.

It’s important to note that while the FDA does everything they can to protect the public, some things may fall through the crack. Unfortunately, the long term effect of products may not surface for years. In the meantime, people taking a product may get sick, even though the product was deemed safe. A classic example of this is cigarettes:

Many years ago, cigarettes were touted as a great way to lose weight. Today, we know how dangerous cigarettes can be but years ago, they were accepted by all.

Think For Yourself

Yes, the FDA is here to help us, but they can make mistakes too. These mistakes can have tremendous ramifications on your health. It’s critical you begin to think for yourself. Do your own research. Seek additional sources of information on products and make sound, logical decisions. In other words, finding out years later a product is dangerous may be too late.

Use Natural Products

Man-made products and artificial ingredients may be convenient, they may not be good for us. It’s critical we keep an open mind and look at natural products and their potential health benefits.
