The FDA has finally approved the vaccine. While this is a step in the right direction, we can’t let our guards down.
The FDA has done many great things to help people, but they have also made mistakes. There are several instances where products previously approved were recalled after discovering these products were hazardous to a person’s health. A recent example of this is hand sanitizers recalled due to hazardous chemicals they contained:
255 FDA-Recalled Hand Sanitizers to Know as COVID-19 Continues Spreading:
The FDA has listed 255 different hand sanitizers, mostly produced and distributed in Mexico, that have been recalled. Not all recalled hand sanitizers are from Mexico, though. They come from China, South Korea, Guatemala, Poland, Turkey, Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, Ohio, Tennessee, Texas and Utah.Read the full article HERE.
On August August 16, 2021, The FDA published a recall notice from Pfizer over one of their products, Chantix:
“Pfizer is voluntarily recalling an additional four lots of Chantix 0.5mg/1 mg Tablets to the patient (consumer/user) level due to the presence of a nitrosamine, N-nitroso-varenicline, above the Pfizer established Acceptable Daily Intake (ADI) level. “Long-term ingestion of N-nitroso-varenicline may be associated with a theoretical potential increased cancer risk in humans, but there is no immediate risk to patients taking this medication.”Read the official statement on the FDA website HERE.
FDA Approved But Banned in Other Countries
The following products are FDA approved but banned in other countries:
- BHA and BHT. Banned in the U.K. and Japan. Preservative used in breakfast cereals and chewing gum.
- Azodicarbonamide. Banned in Australia and the U.K. Found in frozen dinners, bread products and baked goods
- Potassium Bromate. Banned in China and the EU. Used in rolls, bread crumbs and flat bread.
- Artificial Food Coloring. France, Austria, Finland, Norway, the U.K. Used in many everyday foods.
- Bromine / Brominated Vegetable Oil (BVO. Banned in India, Japan, European countries. Some sports drinks and citrus flavored sodas.
Remember: just because something is approved doesn’t mean its 100% safe. Do your research and proceed with caution.
Keys to Good Health
It’s critical we remain vigilant and do everything we can to maintain good health.
- Eat healthy foods
- Get exercise daily (that includes walking)
- Going outside and getting some sun (15 minutes minimum)

Drugs can be approved one day, then recalled the next. These things happen. The key is to not let your guard down, and not put ALL your faith and trust in medication. Mistakes can happen, and those mistakes could be hazardous to your health.
